What is an active experience?

You may be more familiar with, “session,” the traditional term used to describe the time a client spends with a mental healthcare professional. Here, we refer to that time as an active experience, and we can’t wait to tell you why. Click here for more information or give us a call. It’s a philosophy that we love discussing.

What kinds of therapeutic approaches do you use?

When working with clients in groups or one-on-one, we utilize evidence-based practices in psychology (EBPP). The American Psychological Association defines EBPP as “the integration of the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture, and preference.” In practice, this means that our clinicians may utilize interventions from acceptance and commitment therapy, behavioral therapy, cognitive therapy, emotion-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and/or solution-focused therapy. The approach is determined by assessing the client’s cultural identity, their clinical presentation, and their ultimate goals.

Do you provide LGBTQIA affirmative care?

Yes, we absolutely do. We welcome all members of the LGBTQIA+ community and we look forward to providing you with a comforting space within which you’re able to address any number of challenges that may or may not be directly related to your intersecting identities.

Do you work with minors?

We do not provide care to individuals under the age of 18 at this time.

Do you accept insurance?

We are an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance at this time. However, upon request, we are happy to provide you with monthly statements that you may submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursements. (Please make certain you contact your insurance carrier in order to determine the specifics of their reimbursement policy.)

What are your per-session rates?

Our rates for individual services vary based on the providing clinician and the service you are receiving ($150 - $450 per hour). In addition, we offer a limited number of reduced fee slots to clients who demonstrate financial need.

What are your rates for trainings, seminars, and workshops?

Pending her availability, these events tend to be delivered by our founder, Dr. Jaz Robbins. Though our rates for facilitating group/corporate trainings vary based on the needs of your event, we think you will find them highly competitive, given Dr. Jaz’s credentials and the breadth of her experience. Rates begin at $3,170 per hour with a one hour minimum. Clients must cover travel expenses for events taking place outside of the greater Los Angeles area.

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy is the service that we provide to those who are experiencing emotional pain, struggling with the residual effects of trauma, finding it difficult to manage challenging relationships, or facing any other emotional, interpersonal, or mental barrier that has become problematic in some way. Coaching is a service offered to those who are not troubled with emotional pain, but rather they are seeking targeted assistance to help them soar and meet a very specific and targeted goal. A therapist helps you figure out how you want to live, based on your values; a coach gives you advice and direction based on your named goal and their expert opinion. Individuals must clearly demonstrate their readiness to work and accept mentorship when inquiring about coaching services. It is not ethical for us to provide this service to individuals battling serious mental health challenges as therapy would be more appropriate.
